now onto the Story

after seeing DemonML again on the homepage, i started to remember the old days. waaaaay back in 2010-2012 i came on here FULLY obsessed with dragons- that's where my name came from. that was my thing. i got really into following just a whole bunch of dragon artists in absolute teenage AWE of the detail in their characters (and, naturally, the radness of their dragon ocs). the way the dragon artist community put so much love into their reference sheets inspired me SO much. it was something i always wanted to do. DemonML was one of the names i saw around a BUNCH at that time, even though our paths never really got close enough to cross.

naturally that was 10 years ago, at some point i kinda gave up on dragons- i could never be as cool as the people i really idolized- and moved onto other things. i'd thought about going back to dragons a lot over the years but never really had the push to- that is, until i saw this contest, which was perfect opportunity to go just absolutely ham on a dragon design, right?

i did! but it turned into a painting. one that i am very proud of, poured all the love from kid me i could muster, and will post eventually.

this was the backup design! it kinda got pushed to the side because of the big intensive painting, and it's not a dragon, not really, but it's got a lot of me in it. i've since realized i could never do those really awesome refsheet drawings with the individual scale details so meticulously drawn out, i'm more of a painter anyway, but it doesn't mean i can't make a cool creature.

anyway i hope y'all enjoy, i'm gonna try to do monthly dragon paintings
