alright lads sit down its headcanon time! i dont think bright mac and pear butter were the First Ever pear/apple to come on good terms

rather than lovers, grand pear and granny smith used to be the most loving, inseparable pair of friends since foalhood. don't get it wrong, the pear/apple rivalry had always been prevalent, but both families still managed to hover over civil terms at the time. pear and smith did everything together whenever they could, and their friendship was pure for as long as it lasted. as they got older, they ended up falling out so badly it set the spark of their families' feud ablaze, eventually barring apples and pears from interacting in positive terms by the time they were ready to take charge of their respective farms. from then on playfulness and kindred words have only morphed to screaming fests and petty jabs, and it's all the former friends will ever know for years to come
