Description
Last week I visited my brother who recently moved in an ancient country house. On a stormy afternoon, I was walking in the meadow nearby when it began pouring. How excited I was when I saw two dragonflies patiently waiting for the rain to stop ! I ran straight to the house, took an umbrella and cut the bottom of a plastic bag to make some kind of a waterproof protection for my lens and went back to the meadow, hoping to find the spot again. I did, and these two dragonflies let me come very close as they were covered with drops. It was quite epic to make the umbrella stand straight between my knees without it moving all the time ! At the end of the session I was soaked to the skin but very, very happyCanon 7D + Sigma 150mm f/2.8
Iso 500
f/4.5
1/125s
Post process : cropping, exposition, contrast
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is a Sympetrum red-veined darter. Don't hesitate to zoom on the picture to see more details on the insect body.
Every favourite and comment is always a little joy for meΒ Β

Hi ho,
I really like this close up version much more than S.i.t.R II. Not only because it is macro, but the composition is much much stronger.
I didn't know that dragonflies are singing when it rains Β - Or is this title because of you?
Next time you should take a mirror with you. Seeing you sitting with the umbrella and the camera in the plastic bag and singing while it rains.... what an artistic scene

ah ah thanks for this delightful comment !Β yes it was quite epic, I'm glad none was here to see meΒ Β
As far as I'm concerned, I prefer the wider shot. I guess it's a question of taste!Β
