Indeed. He's basically that one person who's seen some shit in their life but still try their best to make the next day better than the last.
I hope he gets more character development in later comic strips, tbh. I'm sure there's a reason he doesn't, which could be Hidekaz just being careful with his portrayal of Russia, in general.
But still.. Russia is rich with history; both beautiful and god awfully scary. And I can see why people can't seem to find a proper balance to his character in the fandom; it's either he's extremely childish and cutesy or completely insane to the point of yandere.
Maybe that just goes to show how complicated he is :v which makes him my favorite character because he's so complex.

Well.. tbh he kinda is. Years and years of trauma which then is coupled with the occasional uncomfortable comment (ex. he was late to the meeting because he literally pulverized some guys to death and just so happened to forget to clean his buster sword and trenchcoat..) makes you wonder where he is on that spectrum.
Nonetheless, however, he does seem genuinely kind and has an incredible amount of patience when it comes to the others shitting on him constantly, which leads him to silently fire back with subtle crude humor (ex. sending America a box of his smallest condoms, which were apparently 25cm--holy shit wut).
