Is there any though process behind choosing the color of the wash?
I was wondering since the pages get colored by a colorist anyway, if the color of the wash makes a difference?

yup there definitely is a thought process. The color I choose is a jumping off point for the colorist and helps dictate and express the mood of the scene. If you reverted the wash back to black and white and layed down the same color you will see a difference.
