Description
This ACEO is made of polymer clay with an iridescent blue glass gem. It measures 2.5" x 3.5" and was painted with acrylic and metallic paint.It reminds me of a seed pod that has burst open

Thank you! I put reflective material behind the gem and the reflecting light caused the gem to glow like that at certain angles

I Looooove dichroic glass but this is just an iridescent glass gem that I put foil behind....guess it does give a similar effect eh?

Yes is does. I have a bag of irridencent glass cubes,but they look silvery instead of colors in the light. I showed my hubbie too and he was in luv!

I told him and also poked him a few times about picking up some clay too. He doesnt sculpt,but makes pipes and staves.

I think he has to find somethign to make that really inspires him. But I hope he does soon. Im working on several peices right now. My problem is I get part way through and I have to stop to make a commission.

You should run with this! If you haven't already, you could could do a whole series of "pod" pieces. Rather than the 'Alien' connotations I see more of a steamy jungle floor image. There's that wonderful surprise element with any bursting pod, as to what's inside. Alien changed that image for ever, sadly (though a classic film). We only ever see pods bursting opening as something scary. You could redress the whole situation. How many other things have been spoiled by movie history:- The sea and 'Jaws', robots and 'Terminator', computers and '2001', the list goes on. hang on a minute I could do domething with this idea! Forget I said anything!! Cool piece though, as usual.
