I've spent 13 yrs in printing and my mom was an eucator so I learned to write pascal in 82, which became applescript.
right now I'm using a headless iMac dinosaur, which is not bad concidering I can run 5 Operating Systems simlut.
SOX, Classic, WinXP, Unix X11, Gnome Linux!
and I have several macs in various stages of resurection.
I'm installing Xubuntu linux on an old MiniTower in the backroom.

That is cool. I have often wondered about getting one. I get more and more irritated and fed up with microsoft windows as time goes on. My big thing is that almost all of my software is windows software.
I do have Linux on my other partition, but it is so foreign to me. I am not one of these people who grasps written directions. (I have some significant learning disabilities) so many times if I can't figure out something, I just don't get any farther with it.
I did have Linux Debian on my other computer, but I don't now. I have 3 brothers that build their own computers, and one of them uses Linux most of the time for his personal computers but since he is a computer tech, he actually uses Windows Vista, and also even runs Puppy Linux on some computers he builds for people who can't afford to buy computers. He builds them and then gives them away. It is really cool! Of course, I get all my techie work done for free, which is sooo nice!

a fractal-unix thread.. very interesting...
well that's cool, see Mac OSX is a BSD-Next hybred.
the OSX kernel name is Darwin and its a Berkely shell with Mach-ten extensions. so I have a term.app that I can run xml, perl, python or unix commands in. Apple gave away their version of MIT's Xwindows called X11, so I can run 35 years of free unix software. the new machines dual-boot OSX-Win or you can just buy Leopard(X 10.5) for new PCs. I run all kinds of pc sw on my mac.

Oh that is so cool. Most of what you wrote me is way above my level of technical understanding but I get the gist of what you mean.
