Description Just a quick test of Jesses latest update of the wonderful Mandelbulb 3D [link] it is now possible to see the inside of all fractal wonderlands. I see so many shapes to zoom in on... but damn, is it hard to navigate.
I just had to share this raw test, now the infinite infinite number of possible images has doubled.

This is the inside of a plain negative scale amazing box. -no rotations or anything else added...
Mandelbulb 3D ...did I mention that already?

Time to go inside fellow 'bulbers' !

A quick pointer or two would be helpful - how to use the new inside functions? No more cut off looking bits! YAY!

This is quite something for "just a test"! Love the colours together!

Ehm, no... Sometimes much cutoffs ... Sometimes infinite cutoffs!

It is explained in the Mandelbulb3DReadme.txt in the MB3D folder.
In short: check the "Inside rendering" box in the formula window.

Thank you very much Leonie!

OOPS! I was wrong. I did manage to do a better render of the cut-off parts in the new version, however I don't think I really GET the new function.

OK, you enable it on the formula tab AND the on the gradient section? I seem to be able to render ONLY the inside or ONLY the outside - not both at the same time. What's the method?

THANKS!

It is only one or the other, I think Len uses photoshop to mix them afterwords.

Yes I finally got the idea! LOL! And last night I posted a melded image as per Len's suggestion. It's not the greatest cuz I was too excited (literally could hardly breathe! lol) and had to show it! [link]

The main thing so far is that inside seems to take longer to calculate than outside! I just got up and about to do some more diving. hehe

I finally figured it out! And I posted something as Len suggested.

The Inside Render also is good for Masking a Mask for blending out Cut/Sliced areas in a shot, always disliked the flat blandness of those. Super work

I had one I had saved as an m3i file a while back but didn't use it because the image had a dozen areas with cuts that just really ruined the whole thing. With 1.7.5 I ran an Inside Render of it and what I got was a perfect Mask to blend out the Cuts. I just posted the final version, the params will show the cuts...

Cool it looks like a courtyard, whose surrounding walls have been gobbled up by a fractal fungus.

MANDELWERK In reply to worksteady [2011-11-05 15:54:37 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I wanted to "go down" on the courtyard to get a close up of the "statue", but it is extremely hard to do delicate navigation like that.
Thank you Col!
