Tried some stuff with the watercolors, some I screw up in the coloring process,cause of the variety of different blues, but I manages to correct it.
Making that effect on her mane was relaxing somehow.
Almost ruined her eye and body color, to the point of ruining the paper.

It's not that bad.Just keep trying, I am sure you will get "feeling" in hand.
But I have same problem.I make layer with watered temperas and work then with pencils.Sadly, noone invented paper enough thick for me...No matter how thick it is, I always manage to ruin it.

not really.Still haven't figured out how to use them right.
I use small amount of tempera and put a lot of water in it, actually to mimic water colors.I had to figure out something instead.Once it is dry, I make layers with pencils.

There's actually paper made for watercoloring.
I think it is 1mm thick and reminds almost cardboard. And It doesn't get ruined so easily with water.
