Are the cracks from firing or from weathering?
Either way awesome shot
You have such a great eye for composition

they are from weathering, having been in the outdoors for about 12 years.
But initially it was meant to be for sale in a gallery that used to sell my work, but while i was taking it out of the back seat of my car, the top of one elbow knocked the door arch and the sculpture broke in two across the chest section! Ha!
Well, wasn't funny at the time, haven driven so carefully from the countryside about 130 Kms to the gallery south of the city!

thankyou, it is one of my personal faves,
but it was an experimental piece to see how this new clay on the market at the time held up. It does fire to a gorgeous stone like finish, depending on how you treat the surface of course, but it does have a high rate of post firing shrinkage, apparent a few years later.
I sold a similar large vertical piece to a client who housed it in the foyer of an apartment building, shrinkage cracks already appeared but he bought it as is. The clay itself remains very strong regardless
of the cracking, but i wont use it again.
