Okay, I should have finished this a looong time ago, but I never really made it so far. Started all over since the former version was shitty, and I spent all night making this.
So I hope this can be af any help to you... ^^

I am really proud of this. Not only was it fun making the design and layout, it was also fun explaining how I work and why.

The person who can find the two errors wins a digital cookie. One spelling error end probably one wrong word....
(But if you find more than two errors, I will shoot you! >>)

...
Should I make more tutorials? Traditional colouring, inking a sketch, anatomy, manga faces, whatever....?

thanks for sharing, I never understood what people mean by using tracing paper before this-
it just makes everything cleaner?

Yes, tracing paper (or greaseproof paper, which it actually is) helps you get your lineart as clean as possible. Some artists use a light box to transfer the sketch to the real paper, leaving behind the unecessary lines and smudges. Some artists (like me) have a tendency to draw very "sketchily" and put some pressure onto the paper, so sometimes it's impossible to clean the paper completely with an eraser. So the solution would be to duplicate the sketch/lineart and leave the smudge behind
In this case, I used the technique to transfer my sketch onto another type of paper, seeing as water colour paper is impossible to clean completely if one were to draw a wrong line or smudge the lead too much
(Oh wow, so much text... )

thats ok, thankyou for the explanation!
I am always scared to use my watercolour paper because the brand is really expensive, and I sketch really rough then use up half an eraser everytime I want to colour.
so baking paper works, i was thinking of using it seeing as it's in the cupboard (:

I'd say it's the cheapest and most secure way to do it. I hope you feel so too If you are to try out this technique, I'd love to see the result ^^

The paper is so rough and bumpy that it's quite hard to control the ink tip, yes

The bumvy-ness is what gives the amazing colour texture once you colour on it

Beautiful! And I loved how you explained it! I would've never thought of using tracing paper to transfer my art to a fresh sheet. Thank you!

No problem I hope you can use this method because it is very good if you want to avoid damaging the paper during the sketching stadium

To much unnecessary things. But that doesn't matter because at the end everything is like it should be. ^^

MangaAnimeLover In reply to designer356 [2010-07-25 19:56:27 +0000 UTC]

What is unnecessary, you think? Oo

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

designer356 In reply to MangaAnimeLover [2010-07-25 22:02:18 +0000 UTC]

Using tracing paper, using lines that helps you with the head anatomy, tracing two times, planing colors before you start with coloring. Ok? ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MangaAnimeLover In reply to designer356 [2010-07-25 22:35:10 +0000 UTC]

I did not want to draw directly on the watercolour paper since all extra lines and guide lines leave ugly grey marks. I know some may be able to work without guide lines, but I need them. I have seen many people fucking up the face anatomy because they do not use the lines. Better safe than sorry (In case you were going to say that guide lines are unnecessary...)

For det gør min med ca. 40% af alle tegninger på hele dA lige for tiden...
