I HAVE FOUND YOU AGAIN IN THIS 64-BIT JUNGLE!!!!!!!! Oh how content I am to have litestep working on Win7.
Turns out all you really need to do is install LOSI 0.45 (or whatev the recent one is...) and then drag and drop the executable and .dll file in the 0.25 alpha build into the litestep directory. THEN (this is what I think was causing my woes) you need to download a little .exe file called setshell64: lsp.litestep.info/index.php?pa…
Voila! LS is working super now . Although I miss the windows 7 superbar and the fancy desktop fade (although if you get jdesk-0.75, you still get changing desktops, just not with the fancy fade effect).
I'm just happy that LS is working. Ahhhhhh I haven't had this much fun in a looooong time .

I found another journal entry here on dA that explains how to get Litestep working on Windows 7 @ [link] and even though I got it to work, I had some transparency issues when switching themes / backgrounds.
I guess I'll have to wait until there is a dedicated release for 7.

a doubt! Did you have sucess on the semi-transparent areas?!

Hmmm the semitransparent works ok for me. Are you using .png image and the:
(label-name)AlphaMap
Command? I found that if I did:
(label-name)PaintingMode .none
the label would have just a black background.

I think maybe it's a jDesk issue. Can you tell me what theme/OS you're using?

The directions should be the same for 32-bit (except for the last part about the setshell64.exe - 32-bit doesn't require that).

Yay!
And I realized, the fade is only only Premium and Professional anyways I think. There's no fade on our school computers.
Hope to see some new themes from you soon then.
And maybe I'll even give skinning a try.

I sent you a message on Twitter asking about compatibility! Does this also apply to the 32-bit version of 7?

Oh lol sorry - I barely ever check my twitter . The 32-bit version of windows 7 shouldn't need the SetShell64, but it does require the 0.25 alpha build.
