Bleach © Kubo Tite.OK, let me say right way that no one should be allowed to draw angsty!Ukitake because it's just wrong!!
That said, I couldn't help it. I don't understand why most of the things I want to draw or write these days are about him angsting when he's the nicest and most cheerful guy in all of Bleach.
So, sorry, Ukitake-taichou, I promise I'll draw you in a much better mood next time!

I absolutely love it! I've always wanted to see him like this.. because it is different, they never show him like this. I actually hope that you might draw him again like this. He's one of my favorite Bleach characters! I also love this piece because it IS so emotional like Boom-Necrocrime said. Its showing another side of him.. its makes him more human (-blah- I know its just a saying!

Aaawww, thank you. It was extremely interesting to draw this side of him we never see, and I'd like to think I'll do it again, even if I of course like it much better when he smiles.

Before I even read your description, I was like, 'nooooooo! Ukitake can't be sad, it's so WRONG!' *gives him hugs until he feels better*

Just because it's Jyuu-chan doesn't mean it ALWAYS has to be happiness and light! Even Tamaki has his gloomy days!
And it's such BEAUTIFUL GLOOMY, too, lovely and atmospheric, and you can almost hear the thoughts running through his mind about Rukia and Kaien.
