Bleach Β© Kubo Tite.OK, let me say right way that no one should be allowed to draw angsty!Ukitake because it's just wrong!!
That said, I couldn't help it. I don't understand why most of the things I want to draw or write these days are about him angsting when he's the nicest and most cheerful guy in all of Bleach.
So, sorry, Ukitake-taichou, I promise I'll draw you in a much better mood next time!

;_; Ukitake~ <3 He's such an angst queen, even if he is such a cheerful pedophile candy-giver. Shunsui is usually more cheerful than Ukitake though. The only time I've ever drawn him angsty was this one time after reading a Dead!Uki fic x_x;;

Besides the lamenting, he's good enough to eat. Personally, I'd like the pic to be a bit brighter, or rather, more contrast, but if you look at the emotional side, the dark atmosphere and the monochromatic colors suit his mood well.

I know the picture is awfully dark and it keeps screaming at me because, gosh, Ukitake should go with bright and happy, but once my Muse got hold of this idea she wouldn't let go.

I felt so bad for drawing him so gloomy that I've already got another sketch coming, much much more cheerful this time
And yes, I can't remember whether it was clearly said in the manga or if it's just the popular opinion, but souls get "recycled" to maintain the equilibrium. So Kaien and Hisana could/should be living in the human world.
