Sorry for the inactivity, folks! Been busy all over the place. Having some fun with Pokemon over on Tumblr and I thought I'd redraw an old team portrait from 2013:

It's a fun comparison piece! In the spirit of nerdy fun, the profiles for Vance and his team were similarly given a dust-off:
Vance is a small-town / country kid who works as a Poke-sitter in his area. His mom, Heather, is a Pokemon veterinarian and former trainer. Vance takes after his mom in that he is empathetic, good-natured, and has a noted interest in Pokemon care. His studded jacket is a memento of his father, a former biker and quasi-gang member. In order of acquisition, Vance’s party is:
Pinklestin (Houndoom) was Vance’s very first Pokemon, given to him by his mom to both ease the loss of his father, and to prevent Alma from playing tricks on him during the night. Heather found him as a Houndour pup in the city, abandoned in a ditch drainpipe. Just a young booger at the time, Vance lovingly named his new friend Pinklestin and the two have been inseparable since. Pinklestin is steadfastly loyal and goofy. Wherever Vance goes, he goes, with the added risk of starting an accidental bush fire. [Headbutt, Crunch, Feint Attack, Flamethrower]
Alma (Haunter) is his mother’s first Pokemon. Alma was discovered as a Gastly by Heather in the attic of her father’s barn. Alma was hand-raised from a teeny foul vapor on a kiddie diet of popcorn and shitty horror movies to a giant rebellious gas cloud with a taste for chocolate and crappy theatre food. Alma was Heather’s closest companion while competing in the League and is unquestionably loyal to her owner, given to Vance to protect him while away from home. Alma is Vance’s Ghost and SA powerhouse, but is not sent out unless absolutely necessary. Alma is not fond of Vance at all (and he knows this) and would rather play pranks on him. Standard to her species she is Pokemon- and human-aggressive, and will prey on either. [Psychic, Dark Pulse, Shadow Ball, Shadow Punch]
Wibbles (Sewaddle) is on loan to Vance from country neighbour and fashion designer, Antonio, who gave him his favourite Sewaddle for “survival and fashion sense!” while he is away studying. Wibbles, being Poke-sat by Vance many times in the past, is very fond of him. She can repair almost any fabric and has fantastic colour coordination and taste in clothing. Soli (Skitty) was acquired while on the road, born from a Farmer’s Market egg. Mixed in with a commercial batch by accident, Soli’s egg was to be boiled for breakfast, but hatched while in transit in Vance’s possession. As soon as she said ‘hello’ to the world she immediately identified Vance as her mum and has never left him since. Soli is a ball of energy and likes to run around and bring Vance things she finds outside. He’s convinced she’s solar-powered. [Fake Out, Tail Whip, Tackle, Foresight]
Craster (Lunatone) was added to the party when the Pokemon rolled over one of Vance’s empty Pokeballs while licking sand in a park and simply refused to free itself. Craster generally levitates (or just sits) in a corner and stares into the distance, being completely useless. Craster has the noted habit of licking people and walls (walls in particular) for no discernible reason, and has a curious attraction to sugar. Having no human sense of taste, Craster’s licking habits and want for sugar is a mystery to everyone. [Magic Room, Moonblast, Stone Edge, Confusion]
Bernice (Conkeldurr) was given to Vance from an employee leaving a construction company going out of business with no word on her training or history beyond “she’s an old rescue Pokemon”. Contrary to her species standard Bernice is skittish around and aggressive towards other Pokemon. When out of her Pokeball she will never stray more than thirty feet from Vance’s side. Bernice prefers confined spaces, is agitated by loud noises, and seems to experience night terrors regularly. [Superpower, Bulk Up, Chip Away, Hammer Arm]
