Description The road to improvement is slow and steep. I will figure this out. IT HAS NO LINES. That's amazing.

This is a study exercise I got from ctrl+Paint , through the "Basic Photoshop Rendering" tutorial. I learned more in 45 minutes than I ever did in art class (partially because nothing clicked in art class until after I graduated). It's a super tutorial for just $10. It's worth watching the "Digital Painting 101" videos even if you're already familiar with PS.

Thanks for showing us this and the link. Sad for me in art school was more a "bring your own knowledge and skill  of the basics" then teaching you how to do things step from step from the basics, so I always struggled and felt like I did not get my moneys worth but this will def help with building my professional portfolio this summer!!

You are most welcome! My experiences were similar, it's very hard to find an art education that really works since everyone's learning style is different. I still learned good things in school but all the good stuff for art never came into the picture until way towards the end of my degree, right before I graduated! That was no fun.

Thanks! It actually started off with lines (this blows my mind). The video helped so much with the transition from lined to line-less that I could never figure out. The artist goes through the entire video pretty much in real-time speed, and actually takes the time to explain his process (while not talking down at you, which is impressive), and then gives you the exact same file he worked with to try yourself. Best $10 I ever spent, those fine details to digital painting make so much more sense now.

That's awesome. I think some people just think differently, and need the kind of teacher that thinks along the same lines to help them understand.

Oh man, that's really cool.

Amazing that it doesn't have any lines.
