Mastering all the styles of spriting is a noble goal, but also an ambitious one. A man can sprite for a hundred years and still have only scratched the surface.

I think the MissingNo sprites were scratched. It's made easier when you're making them 8-bit sprites.

Well, I guess anything could become a meme. Also, 90's nostalgia is in this decade as 80's nostalgia was in during the 2000's. It's just my opinion, though.
