Description The aetosaur Desmatosuchus...

A skeletal of it appeared on the last NatGeo Magazine... I only added skin and muscles...

pencil (I wanted to draw something in pencil, the animal was an excuse)

My first thougth after seeing this work was "Hey, he used the skeletal from National Geographic Magazine!" Then I read the artist's coment. I don't know about you but I just love the article about the crurotarsans. It's one of the few really good paleo related articles in the magazine lately. Actually it's the first article appearing in popular magazine for the mass readers that is using terms as "crurotarsans", "non-avian dinosaurs" and refering to the birds as "avian dinosaurs". And those beautiful Martin's reconstructions.... priceless.

What can I say about your work? It's high class paleoart as usual. You have done some great job here. I really like how you've drawn the osteoderms and the head. My only complaint is about the number of the claws on the forelimbs. From what I know all archosaurs have only three claws on their forelimbs. Fingers 4 and 5 are clawless. Other than that it's great.

You're right!!! the article was Ok!! I'm not very involved with crocs or crurotarsans, thus I can't give a "scientific opinion". However, the spanish version of the article had some minor translation errors (nothing like "Gigantosaurus" the big theropod...). Raul Martin restorations are, as always, fantastic! Also, the crocs made by Todd Marshall are good.

About the number of claws... you're probably right! That's an error that I always carry, probably due to the fact that I usually draw three fingered theropods (not an excuse! I will pay more attention).
Thank you very much for your comments!!!
