Gabbies are stunning.
I'm hoping to begin training for venomous snake ownership and would love to get my own later down the road.

In my country is forbidden to own venomous snakes but i hope to get my first snake (i will get a royal python) but now i am happy with my two wolf spiders (Hogna radiata),a male and a female (they are in two separate cage).

I love the way these snakes look. If they were non venomous, I'd try getting one but they have some nasty venom behind those fangs.

ManitouWolf In reply to DetoxTerror [2014-01-26 23:55:22 +0000 UTC]

Not to mention these guys have the largest fangs of any venomous serpent......

Still gorgeous though.

Yeah, that alone is scary.

They are, love their patterns, colors, they've got some stunning eyes.

I do plan to learn how to handle hots and eventually get my own gaboon (far into the future).
Though, I have to admit, my husband isn't too thrilled about the prospect at the moment!    He's more ok with me having a copperhead or any of the "less-lethal" snakes than one of these bad boys.

DetoxTerror In reply to ManitouWolf [2014-01-27 18:46:01 +0000 UTC]

Ooooh, Good luck!
I can't even get my husband to allow me to have a Royal Python.
I've managed to get away with having a Grey Rat Snake.
Copperheads are stunning snakes, Loooooove the patterns on those. Used
to see them all over the place at my gram's house under logs and tin when I was looking
for Garter snakes and Black Rat snakes. My next adventure is going to be either a Black
Rat snake or a Black Mexican King snake.

He's against a lil ball/royal python?  My corn snake gets longer than they do!  *chuckles*  I could understand him being wary of you getting a red-tailed boa or some of the bigger guys, but a lil ball/royal python...they're little guys in my opinion.    One of my students has one.

I like the Black Mexican Kingsnakes.  Very pretty serpents.

I tried explaining the same thing to him.
My dad had two very nice Cinnamon ball pythons
when I was a kid. I used to run around with his female around
my shoulders. Some rat snakes get around 6-8 foot, I was told my Grey
Rat Snake could get that big but he doesn't seem to mind that. I'm not sure what
the deal is.

Black Mexican Kingsnakes are very pretty indeed. I love that shiny black color.

I'm partial to the Mystic ball pythons (love that silvery gray color).
And on the Black Mexican Kingsnakes, I love that blue shimmer to their black scales.  Just stunning.

Mystics are amazing.

Yeah, that's what got me with them. I love them to
start with but that shimmer just kills me.

If this one wasn't venomous and have the longest fangs of any viper...I would be more tempted to get one. *chuckles*

Awesome snake, its actually an east African gaboon, not much of a difference but you can always tell by it having two eye bands rather than one. east Africans are also much pretty'er in my mind!

I'd need a lot more experience with serpents and then venomous serpents before I'd ever try to keep one of these guys. But I hope to get there one of these days.
