Scenarios involved: "What if the Cold War ended in a US-leaning stalemate?" and "What if there was an actual alien invasion?"

STORY:

"It is 2007 and everything is going well. The first iPhone is unveiled, Tumblr is launched, and Avril Lavigne has released the lead single 'Girlfriend' from her third album, 'The Best Damn Thing'. There are a few incidents here and there but everything is alright. That is until October of 2007. During a political meeting, an unidentified flying object landed on Earth, marking the first time that a UFO has done so. Out of the UFO came an army of aliens, along with their leader, Ma'vro. Ma'vro states that he is the leader of an extra-terrestrial society known as the Maaveola Galactic Imperium and that he will give humanity power beyond belief if Maaveola and Earth had become allies. George W. Bush had decided that this was a good idea, but his citizens thought otherwise, calling Ma'vro a "freak" and described him as a "living fetus".
This, understandably, infuriated Ma'vro which caused him to resort to violence. Ma'vro commanded the Maaveola army to kill every human they could find, starting with the people attending that meeting at the time. In response, President Bush ordered all military personnel into action, but it was too late; the Maaveola had already killed thousands of innocent civilians in one night. It was then when the United Nations stepped up to help save the day. They sent out a call for any able bodied person who wanted to join them in fighting off the Maaveola invasion force.
Ma'vro saw that he was not having any impact on the human race, and thus, ordered the Maaveola army to not only attack North America, but the other six continents as well. With no choice left, the UN decided to send out a global alert through social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, hoping someone would be able to stop Ma'vro's plan.
In a desperate attempt for survival, France and Britain united into the Franco-British Republic, the rest of Europe united into the European Union, and the still-surviving Soviet Union united with China to form the Sino-Soviet Union. Meanwhile, what was left of eastern America and Canada united into the United States of Americanada."
