I used to fear them but then some lady at a reptile convention owned a tarantula and was afraid to hold it so she asked me to video tape her trying to hold it, chickened out, told me to try it, they asked me if I ever have held one before I said nope and I held it like a boss... and tickled it tummy.... So KAWAII!

Thats great Ive done educational shows with reptiles and inverts before and had the same thing happen. People are often scared at first but once they hold one they see the beauty and lose the fear.

Oh WOW! My mother said that she would never allow a tarantula in the house... I mostly want a bird eater spider.... so I can create the first spider leash and walk it around.... it'd be great...

Escuse me for asking but I'd like to know the name of those beautiful blue haired spiders... I've been dieing to know...

mant01 In reply to ClockworkTarantula0 [2015-05-21 07:54:52 +0000 UTC]

Not sure, there's a lot of blue spiders. If you talking about tarantulas it could be a Cobalt Blue. Very beautiful but very aggressive

ClockworkTarantula0 In reply to mant01 [2015-05-21 14:17:18 +0000 UTC]

I love those cobalts.... how agressive though?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mant01 In reply to ClockworkTarantula0 [2015-05-21 20:50:15 +0000 UTC]

Really aggressive/defensive, you dont want to get your hand near one because high chance you'll be bitten. Its a shame because they are beautiful tarantulas but they spend all their time hidden in burrows and when they are out just want to bite lol

ClockworkTarantula0 In reply to mant01 [2015-05-21 20:56:11 +0000 UTC]

Pfft! That's adorable.... I'd call mine hiroshima.... since it'd feel like your hand was being destroyed I'm guessing.

I would like to know though... how about a goliath bird eater spider?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mant01 In reply to ClockworkTarantula0 [2015-05-22 15:19:48 +0000 UTC]

You certainly pick them lol Another extremely aggressive tarantula that will raise up and hiss when disturbed. They have fangs to match their massive size and can be tricky to keep the humidity right for molting. A great one to start with is a Dwarf Chile Flame (Euathlus sp. red), very calm, stay small, fine with being handled and Ive never heard of them trying to bite. As soon as I open the tub on mine its climbing out onto my hand to come out.

Oh! I also hear that pink toe tarantulas, mexican redknees and rose hair tarantulas are good to begin with

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mant01 In reply to ClockworkTarantula0 [2015-05-23 10:19:16 +0000 UTC]

Yeah those are all easy to keep, I have a few of each. Its funny, people say how calm Redknees are but everyone Ive had has been nuts. Mine would bite anytime you gave them the chance. Luckily so far though Ive never taken a bite. If you havent already you should look at Tailless Whip Scorpions. I bred some of mine recently and such cool little inverts.
