According to Ramsey Campbell, Azathoth has another name,perhaps his REAL one, beginning with the letter " M ".
If you meet a mythos monster or minion, just speak that word ! The creature will back off in a hurry !

Hmm I like it but you need to take this picture minimize it to maybe 50% and keep adding eyes, mouths tenticles and what nots.... but still good work. Was this painted?

Does this thing have any relation to fantasy creatures named beholders?

As far I'm concerned, no. And to be honest I'm not even familiar with the beholders. Client basically commissioned it as a part of Chtulthu mythology but I'm not sure if that's relevant.
