You know,it was pretty a chalenge to me as well.Mostly in the beginning,I just couldnt make them work together,set the proper opacities and tended to overuse them and not being actually wise to understand that texture is not something that has to be over used throughout the whole picture and with the same attitude mostly.

I have the same worry many times too,but in other hand,If we dont dare to take some bigger jumps I think we will never discover some hidden values.I have to tell you that I used to be against digital for many years

Same here buddy,until I realized that even having pc painting programs generating helpfull effects or colors,brushes etc,it still needs the proper knowledge and mind to use all those wisely.I was just a not so well informed artist who just thought that pc makes miracles for the painters without even need to make a big effort.But I was wrong,digital is indeed very helpful but still a demanding challenge to deal with.
I see it now just another medium,that more than everything else,makes my life easier and getting my work way faster and painless than I used to be with traditional.

Hehe,I guess sometimes being unaware of some mediums specialty makes us precautions to that.I dont blame you,I used to feel exactly the same way,like I would be using something that seems indeed like cheating.
