I am very lucky to work with such amazing artists as Manthos. Really loving seeing him bring my world and ideas to life, and thank you for all the awesome comments

For anyone interested in the elements in the image and how they relate to the books:

Marithia is a dark and adult world that blends classic fantasy with vampires, dragons with abilities you would have not seen, and a clash of Prophecies with characters who may at first appear readable, but are never black and white. Magic... Beasts of legends... And a story that will grab you until the very end.

The man on the back of the horse is Vartan, Knight of the Elves/Knight of Greenhaven. He is a protector of Marithia, and a subject of a prophecy to save the lands from the threat of Kassina, the vampire sorceress, and her master, Shindar, the Lord of the underworld... And thrawting their own dark prophecy of the Blood Red Moon. His glowing eyes are a gift and sacrifice from the gods... And for those who have read the third book and especially the ending, this image will have a whole new meaning. In the background is the crown jewel of the humans and elves, Castle Greenhaven. Its size and secrets within are a target for the underworld`s forces of darkness. Its walls are lined with real gold. On top of the castle is the king of dragons, Karven. The dragons have a long history in Marithia, and have shown themselves after being gone for so long, that they were thought to be extinct. Vartan holds a special sword, Tahlie: The sword of destiny... Gifted to him by his father. It can tell the bearer of the destiny of anyone but themselves or those who share their blood.

Thank you! I used photoshop for this one with a wacom intuos tablet .As for the procedure, I sketched the basic design then painted and used some phototextures to blend in together and some final overpaints in areas

Hehe, Im humbled! I would say its just a matter of hard practice, in fact, many many years of that. And I know it sounds cliche but...patience leads to something like that as well.

I understand entirley- one of my favorite quotes is "Drawing is a skill, not a talent"... Yeah but I get it. I've been drawing for three years and I haven't gotten far in the grand scheme of things... Also I need to actually post stuff so it doesn't seem like I'm fibbing.

I totally agree...! I have been doing this thing professionally for over 19 years but drawing since a kid ,so thats over 31 years total. Which made me realize over time, it IS about hard work, it IS about consistency, dedication and practicing to "perfect" your craft, a skill that you acquire over time. I really believe anymore that its definitely not about what is so called, talent.

Wow, this is stunning. It reminds me of an old oil painting mixed in with modern. You did a great job on the contrasts and tones.

Your work is incredible!  I'm not an artists, so I really do not know how to compliment using proper artistic terms.  I'm an author, so I can appreciate an amazing piece of art that is designed for a written piece.  It is very hard to find an artist to do work for we authors' books and capture what we have intentions to write.    I love everything about this!

ManthosLappas In reply to Thorn-Publications [2015-10-04 14:11:12 +0000 UTC]

Hello there!
I appreciate your comment and support! no worries, artistic terms are really not required
Im thankful for any kind of feedback, the way it is.
Its really amazing feeling for me as an Artist as well to be able to deliver a product that matches the Authors vision and make them happy!
Thank you kindly for your wonderful feedback!

Thorn-Publications In reply to ManthosLappas [2015-10-04 18:00:45 +0000 UTC]

Well, the only feedback I can give is that your work is amazing.    It is rare for us authors to find an artist who can reach into our mind and create something off of the words we write.    It is a wonderful relationship that can develop with an author and an artist who can work together!
