I like this piece, especially how well it came out. I just think that we should focus more on making the unreal, look realistic. If you also resized the image to a smaller resolution in the beginning, in the end, the image would look clearer. Also, in the realistic sense, I believe that you should have her face with more brightness. Think about it, if you are holding a glowing ball of magic, shouldn't your face be enlighted by the glow equivalent to the 1.5 to 5 times the radius of the glowing orb/thing in your hand?
Now, you are probably thinking, what? Well think about it, if you are using a radical gradient (where it's like a circle gradient), if you have light blue, a very light blue, and a very dark blue as your too gradient colors, and make the gradient starting at the center of the orb-thingy, but making sure the light blue part is atleast 1.5 to 5 times the radius of the orb thing. Then you'd change the layers blending mode to something like overlay, or even just lighten, and then move this layer under the glowing orb and there you have it! Tah-dah! XD
Yeah, now that I think about it, you probably didn't need an explanation, but I guess it would hurt. lol Anyways, great job, and I'd love for you to keep it up!

now here's what i think:
i hope i can fully express myself in English...if the face was closer to the glowing ball it would definetely need more light, no questioning there, but considering the distance between the ball and the face due to the streched arm, i think the light is right, and perhaps the "artistic" explanation would be that i wanted to create one focus point instead of giving importance to other parts of the image, so when a person takes a look at it, the eyes go directly to the light and then go around the picture, that is the purpose of the image, not necessarily making it real, although i don't think it looks that unrealistic
i'd want to hear from you again, very interesting comments you give...

this looks really sweet..ya made a good use of that apophysis...looks like she is creating magic with the fractal or just holding it out to another person to pass it on

This magic thing she shows is amazing technically, but which is more important, it looks just like I imagined a physical shape of supernatural power: a flux of trembling light. And it looks fragile on girl's palm, fragile and powerful at the same time. Real magic.
