Description
U.S. currency hasn't had any significant changes in design in a very long time and even though they've made some upgrades in recent years to prevent counterfeiting, the designs are still pretty plain and outdated compared to the rest of the world. After seeing some entries in redesign competitions online I decided to make my own. I tried to keep some aspects traditional but with a modern design. The $1 bill: The theme is Constitution and government. On the front is George Washington and Washington, D.C. The back features the signing of the Constitution with a Bald Eagle.
Security features include a vertical holographic strip with microprinting, color-shifting ink and watermark. Each denomination features a different amount of raised marks to assist the vision-impaired with telling each one apart.

I thought it was so cool when you did the 1$ before...so I was thrilled you ended up doing a whole set! I love collecting and looking at all different kinds of money, and I've always felt the US is pretty boring compared the money used by other countries. Your designs are amazing. Not only are they colorful and aesthetically pleasing, but they have so much meaning and imagery. I especially love how your thought process extended even to security features!

Hah I didn't even think anyone noticed that first bill I made awhile back! I really wanted to do a whole set from the beginning but just never got around to it until recently. I started slowly collecting world currency a couple years ago and it really became apparent how boring and outdated US bills are and I think that's what inspired me to make this. Thanks again!

Amazing work indeed! The poor $1 (and the even more unloved $2) never got a redesign in 1996. It looks so out of place with the newer notes. I love the use of color, security features, and images in your designs. I should send a copy of your work to your US congressional representatives or the US Treasury.

You're right about the poor $2... I have a soft spot for it! And (not that I'm old but) I've noticed a lot of younger people don't even realize $2 bills exist and are still printed! I considered making one myself but figured if and when the US decides to completely overhaul the currency, there's no way the $2 would survive so I didn't bother. I actually just read recently that according to some government act created in 2009, the US Treasury cannot use any funds they receive towards a redesign of the $1... it would actually be illegal for them to do so. Not sure what the purpose of that is but I guess they really insist on keeping the $1 exactly the same!
On a side note, there's a blog here: [link] that's all about people's ideas for redesigned US currency. Some of it is more for fun or to make a political statement but there's a lot of interesting designs. I plan on submitting mine there sometime too.
Thanks again for all the kind words!

My pleasure! Great link! You should submit your designs. They're great!
Wow, that's interesting about the $1 being banned from a redesign. I believe the $1 design goes back to 1932 or even earlier, a long time without a major update. The poor $2 is $.50 of paper money, just unloved. I've only received them while in casinos or when I was at Monticello.

Thanks again!
Yeah at least that's what I read online... I never looked into it myself. I think you're right about the $1... I know that the basic design and layout of the front has been around for even longer but they changed the back a couple times around the time they switched to the smaller size bills which I think was 1932 like you said. As for the $2, I've only seen it once or twice in regular circulation. My wife works at a bank and she's gotten a couple there but besides that it seems like they're mostly used as a novelty item or something.
