I think Star's mom's gonna turn out to be some horrible evil woman and she's the reason Mewni is such a shithole, and she's the one that ordered the army to slay all the monster's on the island, the reason all the monsters hate them, and she brainwashed her husband and Star grew up not knowing what a witch she is. The mere fact that we barely ever get to see what she does in the background is enough to not trust her.
