This is a commission forHere we have a scene inspired by RWBY Volume 3 episode 11, featuring Blake, Adam and Aero (the commissioner's original character).
I had a lot of fun working on this one.

I feel like everyone hates on Adam so much because he cut of Yang's arm and he hurts Blake. We have no idea about his back story, his mentality and how broken of a person he really is. For example and I'm not saying this as if it's fact or going to be, he could have been abused by humans at a young age, maybe even a slave and could have been tormented to near insanity and when Blake left his fragile state of mind snapped.
I'm in no way saying Adam is a good guy, I'm just saying all the hate thrown at him without at least TRYING to think about why he is the way he is bothers me. Like how everyone is now hating on Whitly because Wiess attacked a civilian with an unstable semblance and thus was removed from being the heir of the Schnee family completely ignoring she attacked an unarmed, likely untrained person with a semblance. Urg it makes me so mad when people let their emotions run wild and start demanding characters die without giving them a chance for development.
Sorry to rant this is some really cool art their expressions show a lot about how their feeling and I like the detail you put into their outfits and weapons

I don't hate Adam that much, to be honest.
He's done some terrible things, yes, but I'm interested in him as a character, and I'd like to know more about his past.
So I pretty much agree with you. It doesn't bother me that some people hate him with passion, but I personally think he's a good villain.
I always like twisted and complex relationships in fiction, so his weird love-hate obsession with Blake could be an interesting, scary theme to explore.
And while I'm intersted in knowing about his past, I don't feel like I would justify his actions because of a sad childhood. I want to know because he seems interesting, that's it. I think it kind of beats the point of following a fictional story when you try and censor it using real life morals. The freedom of fictions lets us explore intriguing themes and feelings that would be either wrong or impossible in real life. Which is why I love villains in fiction overall.

I wonder if Adam took any weapons of defeated and killed students to have those as trophies. Like Yang's right part of Ember Celica for example. I mean their weapons are awesome. I would totally do that if I was a villain. Another reason to hate this guy...

Yeah it would although My OC iskandar Drakon would probably take his arm as a trophy (a lot bad blood between those two even before Adam took Yang's arm, even started writing a fanfic about it)

(I'm actually impressed that he allowed his O.C. to fall to Adam rather than slaying him, and the picture is impressive. Also... Adam Taurus, Mercury Black, Emerald Sustrai, and Cinder 'bleep'-ing Fall... Each and every one of them has my eternal hate, may they perish in pain! ... Ahem. So, yeah, venting, still not over Volume 3, good picture.)

I think it's a realistic choice, as the strength of the characters that are still students is below Adam. For now at least.
Yeah, the ending of Volume 03 really made me take the antagonists seriously.
But I can't help but think that Emerald will betray the "bad guys" eventually. Just a hunch.

(Indeed, Adam is stronger, as apparent from his fighting. No doubts there regarding skill level or lethality, he'd probably be able to go toe-to-toe with most of the teachers... think Glynda would tear him a new one though.
And you are welcome! And I think that Emerald likely will to, however... I do not forgive her. I doubt I will ever forgive her. I believe that when she betrays the bad guys it will be because she realizes that she's been nothing but a pawn for forces that are more than ready to dispose of her once her usefulness is at an end, and what good in the world, the parts of it she liked, she's had an active hand in destroying.
She's had a hard life, and been emotionally manipulated, both of those things are true... but she knew what she was doing when she did it. She knew people would suffer and die, pretty much killed one herself, and helped make sure a lot of other people would die to. Not just in Vale, but all over thanks to the utter morale-breaking nature of what happened there. So, even if she does have a 'change of heart' and betray the bad guys... I shan't be forgiving her I don't think. I'm always going to want her to pay.
... Which is probably one of my personal flaws. And apologies, I do tend to ramble on.)

I think in power level he's above the students, but he's probably below the strongest teachers (like Ozpin, for example).

I understand what you mean. Even though I really like the trope of "bad guy turned good" I think I need to know more about her before deciding if I think she's redeemable. I mean, even if she was following Cinder's orders, she's basically the one who played the biggest part in the plan. *SPOILERS AHEAD*Her illusion power was the key to everything, from defeating the maiden, to getting Penny killed and framing Yang for attacking Mercury.

(Oh definitely, Ozpin is in an entirely different LEAGUE... just those few moments we saw of his fight... 'ahem'. However indeed, Glynda, Ozpin, Qrow, are all past him I'm betting, even as he is past the student body, and it would be LOVELY to see Glynda wacking him around with her telekinesis. However Port or Oobleck? I think those fights would be even enough to leave the victor unknown, intense and nail-biting things.
And indeed. While it would be good to get even more of her past, I... well, I have trouble forgiving the guilty. It is as you say, she was absolutely integral to the plans, to getting things to become this dark. More than Mercury, more than Neo, more than Torchwick. She was the key to the utter level of negative emotion and Kingdom doubt that has been achieved. There were other big parts as well, and I'm already reserving a special place of hate in my heart for whoever designed that virus that Cinder used, but without her, they wouldn't have been able to have such horrific effects. So... for me, turning good just because she gets a 'oh, I was replaceable the whole time and they don't need me anymore' isn't going to cut it... She knew she was doing evil when she did it, she was just doing it for Cinder because Cinder made her feel... valued. Oh, and she smiled at multiple times, implying enjoyment, so that's going to make it harder... and insulted RWBY for being 'happy' well she certainly changed that didn't she? Also destroyed that city you liked you-

(Ah, that makes sense... Not surprised that everyone's doing a defeat of Adam though. He has the well-earned and deserved hate of... pretty much everyone. I wouldn't pass up on an opportunity to gut him, for example... And then burn him... and then bury the ashes in a swamp...)

(I actually disagree on that, and think that my reasoning is where personal preference comes in. Also ,villains are one thing that I REALLY like to talk about, so... apologies for the oncoming rant.
Adam is... not self-aware enough to be a good villain, in my opinion. He's an antagonist, even a perfect one, to Blake, however he's not a good villain. He's obsessed with Blake and acts as a foil to her and exact reversal to her belief systems on how the rift between Faunus and human needs to be filled. He provides a counter and an avenue for growth, for Blake overcoming him will be part of a character ark that sees her strengthened. However... that's kind of all there is to him. Even the idea of slaughtering humans and punishing humanity comes secondary to his obsession with Blake and roll in her life. The White Fang, beneath his rule, became Cinder's proxy, and even then not really Cinder's proxy but Salem's, easily manipulated into a situation which ultimately damages everyone, Faunus included.
If he seemed like he was aware of that, like he knew that by involving the White Fang he'd increase hatred against all Faunus and thus make them more angry and persecuted and thus more likely to either run from the Kingdoms, or side with the White Fang, then I'd view him differently. However he seemed to just be... wanting to hurt humanity, and hurt Blake. All he seems to want to do is hurt what's in front of him, what he's focused on, and isn't even considering the long-term effects and the tactical side of things. ... Or at least that's my impression. He's the psycho-stalker ex-boyfriend from Hell... and almost nothing else. Far too simple, and you can only do so much with him as he's portrayed now. He is only an antagonist to Blake right now which limits his character, and makes him, in my opinion, an actually rather poor villain. Just a character growth opportunity.
Torchwick was a good villain because of a mixture of intimate self-awareness, self-interest, and presence. He had his own goals, multiple desires, and no illusions about his place in things. Namely, he was working with Cinder because he viewed there as being no way out, enjoyed violence for violence's sake, and was entirely self-aligned. Yet, just human enough, with an obvious caring for Neo, especially just before his death. He wasn't 'obsessed' like Adam is, and also provided a lovely sarcastic and snarky flavor against the more serious antagonists like Cinder and Adam. He can play enough parts, and enough be done with him, to make him a good villain. A recurring one. One that stays in the mind, and can always come back to do further harm for numerous reasons.
As for Cinder... well I actually don't consider her a good villain either, and this is weird, but... she's just a pawn. Everything Cinder is, has done, and performed, was to Salem's will. How much of the plan was even her? How much instruction did she receive? There's not really a way to know yet. However for all the focus, and for everything she's done, and for all that we've seen her do, all she is... is a henchwoman working for the real Mastermind. The real 'VILLAIN'... and she probably doesn't even understand how much of a pawn she is since she's a textbook psychopath, from what I've seen at least. As much as she might think it, her will isn't her own, and I can't gauge her actual abilities because there's no telling how much was her, and how much was her bug-link to Salem. And that has turned her from a potentially great multi-spectrum villain, to just an agent of a darker agenda, a puppet dancing to another's strings. How much of her power was given to her? We know a good chunk of it was stolen. But by her? Or by Salem, who is able to take it all, at any time... my bet at least.
Mercury and Emerald, same trouble. They're just pawns to, lower on the chain but there they are, and exist to serve as the pawns of a pawn... Again, probably don't even know how expendable they are. And as for their potential... Emerald is a scared little girl so looking to be valued and cared for that she will trap herself in an abusive relationship just to feel like she's needed. Not good villain material. And Mercury is a thug, angry at how life has treated him, and taking pleasure in causing pain to others because it makes him feel powerful. A hired gun and henchman eternally, never the one with a master plan.
And finally, Salem... know almost nothing about her, but she? She is DEFINITELY a good villain thus far... she's been there since the beginning, we just didn't know it, and has been responsible for the events that brought humanity to it's knees. This establishes her as a master manipulator and tactician, and though she appears to have a direct rivalry with Ozpin, was obviously able to alter her tactics enough to acquire human agents to break apart the Kingdoms from the inside, not just relying on the single tactic of filling the world with Grimm, which appears to be her right now. I am eager to see more of her, because with Torchwick dead she's the only one I consider to be a REAL villain, by my standards. Diverse enough, able to do enough, to be a threat that gets remembered long past their supposed termination... one you can never be sure, if she's REALLY gone, she was just that good... THAT kind of villain...

Well, I'll be totally honest.
I don't seem to hate Adam as much as everyone else.
I don't like him, and he's an asshole, but he's not really a character that I hate with passion.
I don't really know why; I suppose it's because I like him as an antagonist who can bring angsty developments to the plot.
About your second question: I love RWBY and I can't wait for Volume 04!!! I was pretty broken when I saw the ending of Volume 03 though.
I cried like, for the majority of the last episode.
I like how Volume 03 ended with all the main characters in a bad situation; most of them are broken, and the ones who want to keep going forward don't really know what to do and are kind of lost. Which makes me think that Volume 04 will be incredibly interesting. I also think that the introduction of Salem at the end of the episode was a great touch; it let us think how things will just get bigger from now on.

It makes me sad because I started to get into his work after he was no more.
He was so young and creative too...
I think my favourite villain is still Roman (with Neo as a close second).
Yang is still my favorite from team RWBY.
Now I have my doubts with team JNPR... My fav was Nora, but now I'm more into Pyrrha and Jaune.
I think team JNPR is the team in which choosing a favorite is most difficult for me. They're all charming in their own way, and they work great as a team.
So that makes me even sadder when I think about what happened to Pyrrha...

What matters is that his work still lives on despite his passing.
I believe my favorites are the same, only adding characters as time goes on. Other favorites include Neo, Penny (who I believe will still come back since she's a robot and they don't "die" as humans do), Coco (who I cosplayer as last year), Velvet, Winter and Qrow (who I hope to cosplay as this year).
