The Doc holds the tiny man in his clenched fist, his massive thumb up against the head of his specimen. (He loves to look at the minuscule man alongside that thumb--it makes the feeling of absolute power that much more intense.) He has shrunk the little man and is determined to explore and examine the tiny being in minute detail. His friend and assistant, James, leans forward, equally determined to convince the Doc to allow him to spend some quality one-on-one time with the cute little guy. After all, he has been the tiny man's caretaker during the entire shrinking process. It is he who has made sure that the little man has been made as physically comfortable as possible. It is he who has attempted to comfort the poor little fellow when he has been frightened and overwhelmed. In that process, he has become attached to the his little charge. Even now, as he looks at the poor tiny man clutched in the paw of the scientist, he wants to hold and ever-so-gently stroke the terrified little man. Now that the shrinking process is complete. the little man has only to adjust to the way he is now. (Up to this point, there was always the certainly of being shrunk smaller for the little guy to worry about.) James wants to speak reassuringly to the little man (but would have to speak very softly in his deep, resonant voice to avoid frightening the little creature even more.) He wants to hold the tiny body in his hands and try to soothe him. He imagines how comforting it would be for the trembling little creature to sit in the leathery warm chair formed by his massive, strong, eager hands. He would be sure to cup the little body gently and securely. He is certain that the little guy could be tamed and would come to trust him. To the Doc, the poor little creature is a lab specimen. To James, he is more--although even James is not sure what that means. James wants the opportunity to better define and understand just what "more" in this situation means.

As a matter of fact, Jack thinks that the Doc abuses his little specimen. He puts the poor little thing through endless examinations and all kinds of tests. When Jack finally manages to take the tiny creature over, it is always totally exhausted. One day, it fell asleep in the palm of his hand...

But what a nice place to rest! On second thought, I wonder if being held in the palm of Jack's hand would be conducive to resting. I imagine the tiny man would have difficulty taking his eyes off of the swarthy handsome man looking down at him.

Sometimes, after hours of being handled, carried around, examined from every angle, put down, picked up again by the Doc's gargantuan brawny hands, the poor little man has not much energy left to admire his caretaker.

Although very timid and totally subdued, the little man sometimes dares look up at the face of his holder. As we can see in the pics, Jack often has to use his thumb to direct the tiny face towards his.

Thanks! Your mention of James using his gigantic thumb to tip the tiny face so that he can look directly into the eyes of the cowed tiny fellow is very stimulating. Thanks for reminding me of this! It is intriguing to speculate on what James is thinking as he holds the little man in those tremendous hands and gently but firmly makes use of his massive thumb.

That is true of me as well. What I find so compelling about your work is that it takes me back to that very early fascination and attraction. It feels very primal to me, despite the fact that it is not too explicit or overtly sexual.
