Description
Say hello to Maurice ChΓ’teau, a French vampire living in the 1790's. He is one of the most arrogant characters you can find, and only hunts those of noble blood. Royalty are his favourite prey, and he uses his fancy crossbow with a hook and rope to climb up to windows at night, sneaking into the bedrooms of oblivious, rich people.This is a school project I'm working on nowadays, where we have to design a character, find a proper pose for it, and then make a traditional maquette as well as a 3D model of it. Here is the concept art and the maquette I've made so far. The 3D model will be made over the next few weeks, and I'm looking very much forward to it

Hi, impressive model making!
Recently I watched a program about Pixar and other computer animation companies and was interested to see how they can scan a maquette like your character directly into the computer, (it can then be moved into different positions etc) . Will you be able to do this or are you creating the character piece by piece?

This clay maquette was just a way to become more familiar with the character as a 3-dimensional model. I didn't use it for scanning though, so I made my 3D model from scratch in Maya, and just used the maquette as a reference for posing

Yes it'll be a sad day when they shut it down. All that work by so many keen artists young and not so young, gone. It's a bit like burning down a library. Oh well, nothing lasts forever.

If we're very lucky, they will come to the conclusion that SS is a big enough part of the whole site to remain, or at least that they will bring it back at some point - hopefully with all the animations as well. I will cross my fingers.
