Description
Yeah it's a quick image, yeah it's all imperfect, but I guess it's a bit of vent art. I never really do vent art, but this just came to me, and I just had to draw it.Pretty much a continuation of this: [link]
Story
She was aware of rattling and rumbling in the darkness, the sound of car wheels on tarmac as they thudded over potholes. The surface beneath her bucked and dropped with the dips of the road, each bump making her ache a little more. She couldn't see anything, she couldn't scream for help, her mouth taped and her hands bound. It felt like she was trapped in the darkness for an eternity until the sound of the car stopped and she heard a door open and then thud close. She felt the adrenaline course though her veins and she prepared herself for the worst. It was raining. She could hear the water drumming down on the metal of the boot lid. Lightning lit up the boot as the lid flew open, a tall figure towering over her. She wanted to scream but couldn't, her eyes pleading with him to leave her be. He was wearing a mask, the only thing she could see was his cruel eyes.
She felt herself being hauled out of the car, and then saw the tarmac heading towards her. Everything went black. A blissful numbness took over her and for a while her aches and pains were forgotten. Eventually she became aware of the cold rain that pelted down onto her, the distant rumble of thunder hanging in the air. She could smell wet grass and tarmac cooling from a hot summer's day. She opened her eyes and the world appeared before her, wet and blurry and drained of all colour. As the memories started to return to her, she realised her hands were no longer bound and her mouth was free of tape, but she had no idea where she was. The small, blonde girl pushed herself up from the ground and staggered slightly, looking around at her surroundings. It was just trees and fields, other than a wall just up the road, which she could barely make out through the pouring rain. She moved towards it, her feet bare and her body clad in nothing but a skirt and a tank top.
She followed the wall for what seemed like miles, her head pounding and her vision blurred. She was numb from the cold, and the rain had washed away the blood and dirt from her body, but she still felt incredibly tired and sick. She stopped as she reached a set of large, iron gates that protected a winding driveway through the trees. She could see a light blinking on an intercom on the wall, but her attention was soon drawn by something else. Watching from the driveway was a shimmering white figure that she could have sworn wasn't there before. As she gazed at the ghost, she felt the world start to fade around her, and then she felt nothing.
When the girl woke she was in a completely different place. In fact, she was in a bed. A warm bed at that. There was a warm glow from a log fire at the foot of the bed, and the soft patter of rain against the window. She groaned as she pressed a hand to her forehead and sat up slowly. She was wearing some warm pajamas and her hair had been brushed for her. She jumped as someone entered the room, and the person seemed just as startled as she did. He pale green eyes widened slightly and he nearly dropped the mug of coffee he was carrying. He moved to sit beside the bed, his pale face plastered with worry. "How are you feeling?" He asked quietly, flicking some of his damp black hair out of his face.
"Uhm... my head hurts a bit," she muttered, hitching herself up in the bed.
"I'm not surprised, looked like you took a pretty nasty knock to the head," he sighed, placing the mug down on the bedside table and managing a smile. "I'm glad you came round though, thought we'd have to take you to the hospital as a coma patient," he chuckled. She managed a smile and glanced around the room.
"Where am I?" she asked cautiously, running a hand through her damp blonde hair.
"Firelight Stables. Do you remember how you got here?" She shook her head and frowned, leaning back against the head board of the bed.
"The... the last thing I remember was... the ghost... and darkness," she sighed and pressed a hand to her forehead. The young man grinned and she looked at him, puzzled.
"That ghost saved your life. She's one of our horses, she laid with you and kept you dry while she tried to contact one of us."
"Contact you?"
"Long story," he sighed with a grin. "Hey, why don't you try to get some rest? You're safe here now, we'll sort things out better in the morning." The girl nodded and slid down in the bed, pulling the sheets up around her. "I'll see you in the morning." He smiled warmly and picked up his drink before heading out the door. The girl was left in silence again, and it didn't take long for the nightmare-plagued sleep to take over.
