Description
The winds ruffled up the feathers of the quiet, fragile creatures aboard. Morning awakens to clear blue skies, brisk air, and the chilling scents of all the untainted ventures ahead. Sunbeams dance across the soggy floors, resting peacefully in the eyes of every brave soul, adding an extra hint of a daring twinkle to each pupil. Excited children run in blissful ignorance, forever thrilled at the beginnings of another day.Meanwhile, the father of all rubs the surmounting number of lines which have found their way to his aging head over the past few, long years. He watches anxiously at the sea, in hopes of...
A darling, observant tot dashes up to him, and softly scrambles her way into the old man's feeble, weary arms. Lovingly, the sweet dear kisses the sagging cheek with all the grace of other worlds, before scurrying off in a perplexing frenzy to the other young ones.
Aching with worry, doubts, and pure fret, the old man lets loose of the smile he mustered up merely seconds before for his most humbling pixie, and stared once more into the bleak horizon. In dismay, the wise spirit slowly turns his head away to leave his watch...but wait! Out of the corner of his grey eyes, he catches sight of a brilliantly beautiful white speck. His dying heart was never more alive! This was his omen. His sign. His long awaited truth.
The precious sight drew ever closer, until it was finally recognizable. It flapped its holy heart out, beating the air with hope and peace. As it approached, the white-feathered angel perched its claws upon the shoulder of the now youthful man, as every sign of time retreated from his powerful body. The bird cued to its master, singing of the victory that lay gorgeously and mercifully at hand...
Soon after the dove returned to the Heavens, the man’s little friend came out once more, dressed in robes as white as snow. She smiled up at her grandfather, asking him what gave his face such radiance. Tenderly, he grabbed the pretty little thing up in his arms and sang out...
"The dove appeared,
And all is clear,
For one and all to be.
Once more my dear,
We have no fears,
For our Lord reigns graciously!"
Before he placed her back down, the child kissed his rosy cheeks, then skipped away...
Leaving a trail of pearly white feathers behind her...
