Description If a mockingbird can’t sing, how can it ever live?
Will a wingless angel fall to despair?
If a horse can’t prance and a wolf not howl,
How can they ever truly live to care?
If a wave couldn’t crash, or an oak had stunted growth,
Would they continue to exist at all?
When clouds shall not roam and rains shall not fall,
What then will they come to be?

If a poet forgets the flow of words
Or loses their precious voice,
Will they be doomed to be another one of man?

The thing worse than loosing your voice would be having it but not being able to use it. Having it there, but it not showing through right. You know it's there and it's destroying you, but no matter what you do it doesn't work.

Yea...that's kind of what I'm going through right now...I have a voice, but I know it isn't the time to use it...and I know if I do it will be used against me...

So I have to just wait...

I'd consider myself shallow if I were to say, "this poem is deep", except in the case here where it actually is.

Whether you are poeticly mute or not isn't really the issue or not, and I don't think it would let you be doomed with the rest. No, I think it's if you forget who you are, and what you're all about, in a metaphorical sense, that's when you fall with the rest of man.

It's like if you're stricken deaf. Instead of not being able to express yourself (though eventually, your ability to communicate vocally does degrade), you lose the ability to hear others express verbally. It's not that which will make you become doomed, but it's changing yourself into something less desire-able because of that disability that will cause you to doom yourself.

Yep. As for me, part of who I am is a writer, and to lose that would to lose that part of myself, which would be dooming.
