My entry for MT Knockout round 3 , I lost though...

The theme for the round was "non-human Art Nouveau". I've always wanted to try Art Nouveau, but never had the motivation.

At first I was thinking to do Robot Unicorn Attack wallpaper, but then I started playing Pokemon (I think I'm obsessed these days thanks to HeartGold XD), and decided to do a Pokemon wallpaper instead.

Some possibilities I considered were: Charizard, Articuno, Ho-oh and Lugia. But I ended up with this one 'cause I like the "fire and ice" idea

I procrastinated until like 5 days before the deadline before working on it, thanks to playing Pokemon in my free time >__< The stupid frame in the middle took me forever! I don't even know why it took so long....

I originally wanted to do some ice/snowflake and fire designs for the side panels, and have the text there. But at the last minute I decided to paint something symbolic: Mt. Ember on the left for Moltres, and Seafoam Cave on the right for Articuno, where those birds were originally found. The text ended up not fitting in anywhere, so I didn't put it in.

I'm not sure if I like the colours aside from the oranges and blues.. it's hard to find a neutral colour scheme that isn't hot or cold or boring
