Yeah, someone advised me of this on another site where I posted this piece. While snakes don't have external ear openings and I stand by that, I was unaware of the frequency range in which they can still usually detect vibrations, so I donked up a little and assumed human voices were outside that range. Let's just say he's not used to being a snake yet.
