Description My Blog>>>> [link]

Image of a starship trooper I did for ImagineFX issue 83. Like my other painting I did for imagineFX of a pirate captain wrecking her ship, I thought I'd do something similar but in a sci-fi setting

Done in Photoshop CSX Alpha 1.4, with my magical golden Cintiq pen.

You can get Issue #83 here, amazing issue!!>>>

Watched the tutorial and I like your unscheduled approach. Sometimes planning out the drawing doesn't really work and kills the creativity of wanting to try new things. You mentioned being a 3d artist during the playback and I immediately became interested in what type of 3d work, if any, you craft in your free time. After doing some digging - well, just checked out your DA homepage - I saw that you work at Blizzard "la crème de la crème." I figure you wouldn't have time to do 2d and 3d personal work and/or couldn't show anything due to rights, violations, etc. Anyhoo, dig the inspiration your work brings and no matter what, I always come back to Impossible Love, whether it be on my desktop or PS3 wallpaper, you just cannnot beat it, cheers!

I think the face you chose to paint really suits the overall image. Obviously some sort of female space soldier, so giving her face a tiny bit of a masculine edge makes sense, whereas her legs are very shapely and feminine. She's like the definition of awesome space tomboy.

wow. okay. So the colours in this is just amzing!!
It has the right "sunlight but not earthly"-feel to it. The texture on her suit is also amazing. I really like the foreground a lot, the whay it's coloured and the fact that it's blurred.

Now I don't know if you want critiqe when you write "let me know what you think so next one can be better" But if you want here's one little thing:

I feel that there's something off with the character. Mosty her legs i think. I don't know if it has to do with balance, the way her feet are posed like a japanese schoolgirl, or that her shins are a bit to long.. perhaps? Or her feet a bit big..? I don't know. But there's something there.
Also: her overall pose doesn't say trooper as much as model in troopers outfit, and that's a bit sad. But if what you're going for is "pretty" rather than "character" than it's your choice, and I can't say anything against that^^.

It's really nice anyway!

This popped up and I was like "OMFG my magazine's cover!" Huzzah! Really fantastic work here, I adore the coloring scheme you chose, and for some reason the rocks in the foreground just really please me. Your pirate captain is taking this whole ship wrecking business pretty stoicly, I must say.

Keep up the good work!

Very nice colors, and very nice ideas, apart from the sketching skills that I can see are superb. Still, I think her pose is really wrong for the situation, it's well drawn, but I doubt she'd look like that. It's almost as if you had designed that character in a blank background before, and now you added this one to the image :/

oh! I wish my hair had so much volume that even a sturdy helmet couldn't keep it down. that hair makes me as happy as the pretty suit and that wee Canadian flag. the sandy background is lovely too, a nice complement with the blues in the picture
