History: when the Mon Calamari first joined the Rebel Alliance they brought with them a considerable amount of military potential in the form of their star cruisers. However the trade of military hardware did not simply flow in one direction. The Mon Calamari saw the Alliance's X-wing starfighters and appreciated the potential of such a versatile craft for their own needs in defending their homeworld from the Empire. A request was made and grated to transfer examples of the X-wing to Mon Calamari control for testing and experimentation purposes. After examining both the A and B models of the X-wing the Mon Calamari engineers selected the more advanced B model and began their work.
The new model of X-wing, dubbed the T-65BA or 'B Amphibious'—oftentimes referred to as the BAmph—was a largely new design that used the standard hull of the X-wing but added several Mon Cal distinctions. It was now a fully amphibious craft equipped with surface mapping sonar and multiple undersea spotlight and other innovations to enable it to fight both below and above the waves of Dac. While in flight mode the s-foils needed to be deployed for combat but when submerging the s-foils closed and the lasers could still be fired without risk of overheating. Like the original B model of the X-wing, the BAmph was able to swap out its proton torpedo launchers for ion cannons. A common configuration for the Mon Calamari was to have a single ion cannon replacing one of their torpedo launchers.
This arguably reduced the offensive capability of the BAmph but this was considered an acceptable sacrifice to make to gain added versatility. Despite the overall successful conversion of the X-wing to an amphibious configuration there were some sacrifices that had to be made. The new fighter was slower than the standard T-65B and T-65 models and cost significantly more, partially because of the advanced sensor systems and shield generators that the Mon Cal engineers packed into the design. These new systems made the craft far more survivable but in turn hiked up the cost of individual craft by a significant margin.
This price increase, combined with the specialist role the the BAmph was designed to fulfill meant that it was largely unseen in the greater Alliance forces save for certain Mon Cal only squadrons that were funded by their planet directly. However when it was deployed it was largely met positively though deck crews often complained about the maintenance intensive nature of the X-wing variant when compared to the original. The BAmph would continue in Mon Cal service long after the Rebel Alliance became the New Republic, serving against the Empire and other aggressors repeatedly including in defense of Dac during the reborn Emperor Palpatine's assault on the planet using the terrifying World Devastators. In this conflict the craft would truly prove its worth as wings of the BAmph were able to hold off the swarming droid starfighters of the Devastators long enough for evacuating civilians to escape the path of the all consuming monstrosities.
While the T-65BA was a footnote in the design lineage of the X-wing, to the Mon Calamari it became an important symbol of their people's ingenuity and self-reliance.

The bubble cockpit canopy reminds me of the Z-95. Good work.

Love this design; then again, I generally like Sub-fighters.

I wouldn't believe it if the Mon Calamari would produce the X-wing instead of Incom. I wonder what would happened if they made the T-70 X-wing.

This is a joint effort between Incom and the Mon Calamari Shipyards.

Yep. As such, this X-Wing type can go from space to air and then under water and back again.
