Soooo I was looking in my gallery a few days ago... and I thought to myself "Y'know... I love my gallery! But it feels like there's something missing...". And then I realized that that something was SOME AVATAR FANART!! I'm a huge fan of the series and yet I haven't made a single piece of art to show how much I love it! I'm getting pumped up for Book 2 of The Legend of Korra!! I feel like when her avatar state is triggered through anger that she's going to look somewhat like this... Scary for anyone else who even THINKS about fighting her... Anyway... here it is. Something new... (FINALLY.)I hope y'all like it!! Don't forget to comment!!

This is a beautiful piece of fan art. It is elegant and well crafted. It is a great take on Korra. It reflects her spirit vividly and truly retains the essence of her character with out copying an exact scene from the show. Which brings me to the style of the art. The style is very different from the shows art work, which makes this piece interesting and brings a new perspective to the viewer. It doesn't feel like I'm looking at something taken from the show. It has its own feeling with out detracting. The style of the artist adds to Korra's character instead of changing it, which I think is a common problem in fan art. All in all a lovely piece.

this is so amazing! The lighting is perfect and I love how you didn't miss the reflected light in the details like Korra's hair and the fur on her skirt thing. I think it's great that you emphasized the muscles in her arms with the lighting - I always loved how she is built and fit, unlike other girls in animation whose figures are slim and not muscular at all. I also like how the four elements seem to blend into each other instead of being choppy and separate. The anatomy is flawless - the arms far back with the palms facing forward is not an everyday pose and can look a bit unnatural but you've really made it work, it looks so realistic! And Korra's face! Watching the animation, I've always thought Korra's eyes looked really awkward when she was in the Avatar state, but in this piece the white-hot blazing eye thing really works with the rage shown in her face. This is such a great piece of artwork - I'm speechless!

so cool! as far as i can tell, the lighting is spot on! the lightness of her hair looks like the fire is reflecting off of it. her body proportions are good too! on the show, she always looked like she had more stocky, muscled legs, so it's good that they're a bit bigger/thicker than her arms are. plus you have to take into account the bagginess of her clothing, so well done to you!

Absolutely! The thing that set me off were the knees, they're so asymmetrical, even if I take into account things like loose clothing and motion blur. It seems to me that the boot is a bit big, but that could actually be because of the shoe design. The hair lighting seems a bit too white (could be my monitor, though).
And then, there's this ambiguity of what is part of the background and what isn't: There are lines that either seem like they are part of the fire (but too far away from where I would have expected) or outlines of the rock (doesn't make sense, I don't think the light would go there) - alternatively, they could also be roots of some sort, but that would require some amount of deduction in this style and level of rendering.
Hm... minor parts look like they have been shaded with too much green, the biggest one is the belt-cape (?) part of the clothing, but again, that could be my monitor.

Ahhh yes... OK let's see. I can understand the knees. I'll go back and fix them in a bit. The design of her boots are pretty big but I'll go and check my references again. I was trying to avoid having the hair closer to white... Before I finalized the picture and put it on dA I downloaded it onto my phone several times along the way to see what it would look like on a different monitor because I only own a laptop. The hair highlights looked closer to that gold color I was looking for but I guess it does still look white to laptop users... Fixing that too.
The outlines on the rocks are from when I was going to make this picture a bit more stylized. It wasn't really supposed to be a reflection of light at first... I just liked how it looked. But I'll see if I can switch it up with a different alternative.
And lastly, I'm not quite sure where you're getting the green from. I think that one is definitely your monitor. Lol But I'll look into it.
I think that different monitors play a part in this... But I will go back a try to improve on each of these things that you've listed to me. It's no coincidence that they're things that I was already a bit concerned about. Thank you so much for your help!!
