Heh, for a second there, for the soldier on the Right.

Wow, love the detail you put into this piece. Trying to figure out if that is the IOTV armor the brothers are wearing, but is true that service members are always trying to cram more pouches onto there for whatever purpose.

I can really identify with this shot because I have seen Marines in their full battle rattle and I myself, even being in the Army have been out there, as well.

Hey dude. Reference from photos (of course) mostly from my library of pics, and online. Google is a big big help for artists these days. Of course, it helps when your client knows exactly what he wants too!

Myselfsama In reply to MarcWasHere [2010-08-08 05:44:34 +0000 UTC]

Thats very true. I've been building a library of my own, its about 17Gbs now lol, but I noticed I have very little military stuff. Though I do watch a guy on here that puts military type stock up from time to time.

are they Force Recon? cuz regular marine aside from officer aren't allowed to use M4 carbine and such. Just curious though.... Really nice picture, and i like it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Delran In reply to thierryclan14 [2010-08-03 19:24:27 +0000 UTC]

Wrong. Especially since I just left 2/2. M4s can be given to squad leaders, machinegunners, not to mention all the corpsman have them.

Another Marine from 2/2? Small world huh...you wouldnt know this dude would you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

thierryclan14 In reply to Delran [2010-08-03 21:34:53 +0000 UTC]

i see, correct me if i'm wrong, isn't that USMC only providing their soldier with M16A4, while M4 only being used in limited number and selected units. Also machinegunner already bogged down by his weapon, why do they need to carrying M4. just asking
btw i dunno if they hv change their policy, cuz that from what i read in military blogs and magazine about marine policy

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Delran In reply to thierryclan14 [2010-08-04 12:08:11 +0000 UTC]

I you're reading blogs, that's the first problem. It's so random. While the standard issue is the M16A4 service rifle, the M4 is issued to standard battalions as well. Not in mass quantity so everyone has one, but enough for the chain of command, the corpsmen, squad leaders, and some extras. I know we give ours to the machine gunners for a certain reason. M9 service pistols vs AK47s at 300m is going to the guy with the AK. And they don't get bogged down "because" they are Marines. If he can't handle his gun and a rifle, he most likely wouldn't be the guy we choose as a gunner.

prjct82 In reply to thierryclan14 [2010-08-04 04:05:32 +0000 UTC]

nicely and not rude sounding for you there guy. You are corrected so you no longer have to be wrong, and kinda prove you know not what you read. For One Marines are not Soldiers, they are Marines. Also don't get a saw gunner confused with a Machine gunner two separate kinds of weapons. Besides its an artists work so no one really needs to get to critical on the exact details over another persons ideas and inspirations

thierryclan14 In reply to prjct82 [2010-08-04 07:50:00 +0000 UTC]

My apologize for looking over critical, who am i anyway? just a military enthusiast and not a Marines. I understand, a Marines pride themselves to be different from regular army, with such rich hisotry and everything.
BTW, i just watching this re-run of "Generation Kill" on telly, what do you think about the series?

M203 and vertical grip?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

MarcWasHere In reply to thegunner [2010-08-05 15:07:40 +0000 UTC]

Not the most common piece of kit, but there are guys carrying it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hawkins006 In reply to MarcWasHere [2010-08-05 22:05:36 +0000 UTC]

And it makes carring the 203 way easer. Maybe it is issued in some countries, but in Canada, we have to buy ours - and they're expensive. I wish I had a piece of that vertical grip m203 financial pie.

Thanks for asking, Marc. Art wise, busy, as you can tell from my gallery. As for the rest of life, other than the next few days, pretty well. Tomorrow is the first anniversary of our son-in-law's death from a heart condition/attack. Our daughter was the first responder, doing everything she could beautifully and by the numbers. This week has been tough, tomorrow will be tougher, and the day after, their 3 year old spends the day with us, because his mom has to work.
