Description
Some recent work I did for a client:[link]
A rather different subject from what I usually do: anthropomorphic animals, in this case the 'Katar' being this species of humanoid giant cats. Was pretty fun to do something different, and a more sci-fi themed 'comic-book' styled illustration.
Do check out their stuff. Cheers!

Its fantastic. I think my favorite bit is that the mech suit has little cat ears. Such a small thing but it makes me happy to see it.

On a very serious/funny note this picture actually brings back memories. When I was in Basic, oh so long ago, there was a Pvt in my squad who had to write a letter to our Sergeant's parents explaining why he died because sai Pvt. was late; that was the punishment for being 3 secs. late to formation.
In his letter, he explained a very dramatic story that I can't remember other than "we were atttacked by lions with zap-zap guns..." needless to say our Sergeant didn't think it was funny as we pushed for 2 hours... Good times, Lions with zap-zap guns...

Why does sci-fi love heavy machine guns with three barrels so much?
Not trying to knock the pic by the way, it's awesome.

Thats actually quite an interesting observation. My personal opinion, is that in terms of drawing a large 'powerful looking machine gun', multi-barrels = more power. Now 1 barrel, no matter how large = CANNON. 2 barrels, kinda cool, but still lacks the look of raw power. 3 barrels, visually seems balanced (like a triagle). 4 or more, basically means u have to draw/ render more stuff. Not to mention, with 3 barrels, u can make the weapon look rather high tech and sleek in terms of shapes rather than the 6-8 barrel minigun look, which is rather straighforward I guess...or maybe im just not imaginative enough!
Well, enough of my rants, but mainly I was quite taken with the 3 barreled look due from catching a glimpse of something similar on the gunships in avatar, and the chainguns mounted on the Cobra attack helicopters.
Thanks for finding the pic awesome too! :]

Agreed davidmn, definitely big cats in tau armor. I'd been toying with the idea of cats in power armor for laughs.
Wouldn't more claw-like weapons (punch daggers?) be more in keeping with feline troops?
