No doubt Sam couldn't beat Big Boss or anyone else from MGS; Snake is more action-oriented while Sam relies on the shadows and his stealth abilities, which are superior to Snakes.

Hollywood, or someone else, needs to hurry and put them two in their own franchise films. Then, make them team up for a common purpose in a movie together. Those two trigger-happy boys have plenty of bad guys to chase.

....Snake has taken out Metal Gears and a tank and helicopter, among other things, out... so yeah...

Well... Hmmm... Read the Splinter Cell books. Sam would not go for the robot... He would've stop the Metal Gear from ever being created. Sam would not go for the bosses, he would destroy their plans first, leave them with nothing, and if necessary, kill them with probably one bullet of his 20K, from the distance. Ok... In Chaos Theory, Sam went against 3 tanks... "Just throw a grenade at me" LOLOLOL. Going against the helicopter... Hmm... In Double Agent, Sam used a helicopter to escape.
Fisher doesn't need darkness... He just prefers it. But the old man can work in any condition you put him in. The fact that he has years on him, is also a meaning that he doesn't really need so many gadgets. He can do things old school, if he needs to (keeps your eyes on the next Splinter Cell: ConViction)
Sam is older than Snake, in age, while Snake is older because he's sick, which gains Sam experience.
However, I don't see them against each other, unless it is like for some minutes, or for some BIG reason that has Sam's daughter (if she were alive [though if it is a fic, she can] ). But if you involve something close to Sam, you're looking for death... O_O
Still, I picture them better like over there in the picture. Just wanted to point out some stuff about Sam.
