Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!  I saw on line there are 22 falls. Are they good hikes? Would the fall be the best time to visit?

I was just at Rickett's a few weeks ago. I'd love to go in the fall and photograph; the colors are always beautiful in Pennsylvania in the fall...

I saw your profile and it states that you're definitely not local to NEPa. If you make the trip to Ricketts again, please let me know. There's a lot more to the RGSP area than just the park itself. Especially if you might think about photography as a career, there's a lot of waterfalls, wildlife and scenic vistas in that small mountainous chasm of NEPa.

Indeed, I'm not local to it except a few months out of the year when I'm visiting family in the area. I'd love to have more time to explore the surround, but so far I haven't been able to make room in my schedule with all the running I do back there. Fortunately I might be living back there for a few months next fall, and my hope is that I'll be able to do a lot of exploring and photographing.

I have yet to get there at the perfect time in the fall to get a shot like this.

Well done! Have you seen it since the floods of 2006? Pretty washed out but the trails and bridges are finally back.

I'm sorry I missed this when you posted it back in 2005.

Beautiful picture! Very sharp vivid details of the trees, leaves and rocks, yet the waterfall looks soft and almost fog like.

The colors are what makes this picture one of my favorites on here. I have a vertical view of this I am going to get matted and framed. Fall also happens to be my favorite season.

Thanks for the comment.

Very nice portfolio! Your work on this piece and X-Static Falls (from WaterScapes Club) drew me into your work. Great compositions and skilled exposures. Great job.

I have about 5 waterfall pics that I am actually proud of. This is definitely in the top 2. I'm kinda torn between a new winter one and an old bushkill one for the other spot.. well, we'll see how the ones I took today came out. Maybe there's a new contender..

Thanks for all the comments and 's. It really is appreciated, as I stated earlier, especially from someone who has some beautiful works of their own.

Yea, this is one of the popular sellers. This isn't the normal vantage point, I took it from across the one side of the bridge and through some beams... It's the colors that sell people on this particular picture. I have to thank Nature for giving me some rain the evening before or this could have turned out really bad.

Thanks for the ...

I had a heck of a time choosing which one of this series I liked best, but this one is definitely it. Beautiful colors, and the trees on the right and left sides frame the 'main' waterfall very well. My favorite part is the rock slabs with the fallen leaves on them. Well composed, well done overall

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mardonic In reply to ChrismonRow [2005-11-18 23:01:14 +0000 UTC]

The rocks with the leaves on them seems to be everyone's favorite part of this pic. I even convinced one co-worker that I had placed the leaves on the rocks myself, after about an hour, I let her in on the truth. I'm glad that you liked it enough to it.

I expected to see a ton of comments here. I'm sure they'll be coming.
This is fabulous, the water is just so unreal looking. This is the kind of photo I dream of taking. Its really wonderful.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mardonic In reply to VileDemoness [2005-11-12 13:17:57 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the positive comment.. although there were about 10 shots taken to achieve this one.

Don't dream about taking pics like this, aspire to it. I use a lot of the pics on here to inspire me to do better. I've been doing this for about 2 years now, over 9000 pics to my credit and only about 200 of them I actually like, so I still have a long way to go. If I can get on a 10-1 or a 5-1 ratio, I'll be happy.

Now I understand where your constructive comments come from! I wish I had such places nearby..

What do you usually use? A polarized filter? Neutral?

I love the fairy mood of this one.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mardonic In reply to nidrig [2005-11-05 09:45:14 +0000 UTC]

My camera has settings on it that I mess with.. mostly a plus one to the saturation and sharpness. Whenever I'm doing waterfalls, I always have my polarizer on and in one instance I've even mixed my C-Pl with an ND8 because of the amount of stray light onto the scene. The picture actually came out very nice and the greens were nice.. although, it was an 11 second exposure.

wow it totally looks fake... like a fantasy scene thats been made for a movie... all you need now is for a fairy to pop out from behind one of the rocks
