Instead of sepia color think >dark< blues and blacks with maybe some purple and hints of green

first of all, I love your comment on this one, it made me like stare blankly for a moment and think about how it matches with my own beliefs. especially this part: "I know there are no directions, just let me walk forward.".
I think these words suit this work perfectly. you say bgs still resist you, but I have to diagree. it's a fine piece you should be proud of. it's not something anyone can do and your patience really paid off. and applause for homemade textures, there are far too few artist who are not satisfied with just using someone else's textures.
I sincerely hope you win this contest. it's a pity there's no voting.

Well, I've always loved the anime, and I saw the movie a long time ago. Although right now I can't remember much more than a vague idea from the film, I'm sure the whole serie has had a deep influence in me... I wouldn't have thought about it if you hadn't mentioned it, you've surprised me! (:

About the concept... I think that I'm a really lucky person, and that I've got almost everything worth wishing for. That's why I tried to find what I actually wanted, a real dream, not an objective I could reach after hard work or something "material". I find it difficult to say what I meant in English, but I'm really glad you got the message that well.
And home-made textures are truly irresistible, it's so fun to make them! ^^

the idea of resmblence to some Utena the movie bg designs probably came as a far echo from my past, when this series meant quite a lot to me and I was kind of haunted by the scenery of the movie. nice to know you liked this series too
the 'real dream' thing is something you yourself feel the best, but at the same time you know it's the most difficult thing to put into words. I think I may say my situation is pretty much alike. There are very few things, let's say 'material goods', that I am not able to obtain (I'm not really needy, though), that's why I want to reach for something else. something I need to work mainly on myself for. like the way how I perceive every little event in my life - not as an obstacle (how I used to think), but as a great adventure. it might be different from what you wanted to show in this work, but I still think the general idea is the same.

Está excelente, el fondo me encanta, está muy trabajo y muy original. El color sencillo y llamativo es totalmente compatible con la idea que estás transmitiendo de sinsentido y locura del sueño .

Good concept. The details in the bg is mind blowing.
But it's looking too monochromatic. I'd suggest at least color the girl, keep the colors subdued. You can also add a bit of colors here and there on the rest of the bg; to draw attention to your detail works. Up the contrast a bit, especially the darker parts to give it more depth.

I was trying a bit experimental colouring, since I didn't want the lineart and the colours to interfere with each other, and I feared that the drawing would have overhelming details.
However I must agree with you, and I'll try to give more contrast and maybe a bit of colour to this, I believe it will look better for sure. Anyway, I'll have to wait until the contest is over, since changing things after the deadline might be incorrect.
