Description acrylic on canvas

The original title: "Princess Andromeda leaves the Sea of Monsters" (named after Riordan's Percy Jackson: the Sea of Monsters)

Sooo, I've always wanted to paint a ship and this project was to be done in Van Gogh's style (dark strokes, impasto and swirls)

This painting screams adventure in the night, so it's my absolute favorite painting thus far. It was suppose to have a constellation and some barrels on fire in the water... But I decided to go with calm situation with a chaotic mood.

... I wish the quality was better D:

Also! Check out this story my friend ~Muerte23 wrote based on this painting! [link] Thank you! ^_^

The second I saw this, I thought of Van Gogh (mission accomplished!). The colors are great, and the shading is spot on. As far as 'adventure at night' goes, it looks more like the sun is trying to break through some really big storm clouds. If cool colors had been used for the moon itself and for the shading, it would look more like it was night time. But that's just my opinion! Otherwise, great job

Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it! I never really looked into that! My main aim at this painting was to make this calm scene into a chaotic looking painting, so I guess whether sun, or moon it would not matter. But I like your opinion- the idea makes this painting have so much more meaning! Thanks again! ^_^
