Heh, as much as I like Maria, and as much as I like her as an anthro, its not going to happen in the series. Sure, there's ways that they could turn her into one, but they're not going to go for it. First they have to introduce a plot twist revealing that she somehow survived the bullet in her chest (which is very possible to do).
If they won't bring Tikal back, they definitely won't bring Maria back (except in flashbacks)... but its fun to dream about it.
