Description
How to make a Splicer Mask From Bioshock.1. I used a plain theatrical mask (You can find them cheep almost anywhere) and simply sellotaped cardboard ears onto it.
2. Cover the entire thing in paper mache. Wait for this layer to dry and add another layer, then continue until you feel it is sturdy enough.
3. Paint in all white (or black) paint; this may take a few layers.
4. Add on decorations with shiny acrylic paint, you can also add curly wire whiskers.
5. Smudge black eyeshadow onto the corners and eye area to give it a dirty look.
6. Burn the edges a bit (nitro splicers especially)
7. Few splats of fake blood of course
8. Staple some elastic on!
Done!
The perfect, cheep and easy to make splicer mask!!
Hope this helps all you Bioshock peoples

How long needs paper mache to dry? I'm making a sword for my OC cosplay costume, and I'm curious how long it will take since I need to do the other side as well ^^ I added one layer of newspaper and one of white printer paper.

I love that this is so simple! Thank you so much!
I'm trying to make a White Rabbit themed mask and I wanted to use a splicer mask base for it. This is perfect for me to follow too since I'm not a hardcore cosplay person.

I'm glad you like it - Don't worry I'm not a pro but I find a lot of directions for Cosplay are too difficult to follow, that's why I thought I'd share my own. If you do make a mask I would love to see it! <3

I'll be sure to take lots of photos! But it may be a few months till I actually have everything, that's why I get such a head start on my costumes.

You're welcome. haha Yeah, I've seen some that have you actually make the mask from scratch out of clay. Authenticity is one thing, but that's a tad extreme. I really like your way, especially with the paper mache because it gives you more flexibility to make the mask custom. :]

hehe exactly, too much effort, and clay is more likely to go wrong. Simple and effective is sometimes the best way even if it's not perfect

True. Plus, if you stumble and drop the clay mask or if anything goes wrong, you can kiss it goodbye as it shatters all over the floor. Hmm, agreed 100%!
