The traveler
It was Christmas Eve, the snow floated down. Thick flakes of snow did the body of a restless mare tremble. “Don’t worry, you ‘ll do well my love.” the voice of the broad shadow beside her was gentle, encouraging. The way a man should encourage his mare. The mother of his child. Unfortunately this story doesn’t contains the happy-ever-after-part. The man with the gentle, sweet voice wasn’t the father of her child, nor her love. It was her father, my grandfather.

I remember that he told me that the last thing my mother ever said to me, before she died, was Eglantine. Meaning wild rose. I have never really understood why I was called like that, until now. Roses bring joy, love and happiness. They live worldwide and each with their own story. I guess that’s why I cherish traveling so much. I’ve seen almost every little place in this big world. But that doesn’t mean I don’t like the feeling of coming home. I would do anything for my grandfather. He’s my support, my family and my ‘mother’. But he knows he can’t keep me home. He knows I live for the adventure, my adventure.

It has been exactly four years now till the day I was born. I could write a whole diary about my life, but I’ll keep it short. During one of my trips I met Caleb, a wild rat who was disowned by his own herd. Lonely as he was he joined our little pack. Ever since, we are inseparable. Many individuals think I’m crazy, but I’ve learned that true friendship means the world to me.
