I hated the previous references for these two, and since my au is now officially anthro I had an idea of redoing the references for a while now. And since this is the first drawing of 2020 I decided to finally do so, at least with my two main characters, bert and mariya

Full name: Albert William Müller. Goes by Bert
Age and birth date: 21 January, which makes him both an Aquarius and a Capricorn. He is approximately 30 right now, although he is about 24-25 in the main storyline.
Gender and orientation: cis-male, very bisexual
Personality type: INTJ/A, the assertive architect
Political orientation: Classical marxism, classical libertarian socialism.
Nationality and place of living: He is German/Prussian, was born and currently lives in Berlin, Germany
Occupation: ex-military officer. Currently works as an aviation engineer, finally reached his dream of working with airplanes.
Height: 189 centimeters/6"2 approximately.
General appearance: Athletic body type. Not particularly muscular, but yet strong and agile. Tall and quite slender. Keeps his body in shape by jogging and skateboarding regularly. Even though he looks and acts confidently, it is clear that he isn't very healthy, appears to be in pain. He is always cold. Pale skin. Has a large horizontal scar stretching from his left ribs to his stomach, also has a deep scar on his left knee. Because of that his leg constantly hurts if he gets too tired, so therefore he can't run for long distances. Will also stagger after a long exhausting day. Has four tattoos, all four are shown on reference.

The best way to describe his past would be "he tried extremely hard and failed miserably every time". Everything he ever did in his youth was trying to live up to his parents' expectations because he always blamed himself on his father's death, and yet that led to some atrocious consciences. More on that in the reference of their uniforms, link below. As he grows older he very slowly learns to let go of the past and live for his own good. Still deeply traumatized. Is very afraid of commitment and that's why he limits his close friend circle to a few people. Yet due to his friendly looking nature many think that he is good friends with a lot. If you manage to make it into his actual close friends circle (which is unlikely, since it mostly consists of his relatives) then he will die for you. Bert is loyal, very responsible, apologetic, overprotective and smart, having three master's degrees and knowing six foreign languages. Philosopher at heart, adores everything that has to do with aviation. Really, seeing some new models of airplanes wakes up an excited little boy in him. He also really likes skating and he's quite good at it. He is seen as this cheerful and outgoing comrade, but in reality he is an introvert who relies solely on meds. Every day he is trying to be a better version of himself, since he actually loves life. Smokes and drinks to escape the physical pain.

Age and birth date: April 20th, which makes her an Aries. Is around 30 currently, yet he is not older than 25 in the main story.
Gender and orientation: cis-female, pansexual
Personality type: INTP/A, the assertive scientist
Political orientation: Authoritarian socialism, authoritarian communism. Doesn't really believe in democracy.
Nationality and place of living: Mariya is Russian, born and raised in the city of Moscow, Russia. She lives in her hometown to this day.
Occupation: Military officer, major-general. Does't work all the time - basically gets called out sometimes, usually to teach the new arrivals. Works by short-termed contracts. Has always dreamed of becoming an architect though.
Height: 168 centimeters/5"6 approximately
General appearance: Genderless figure, very athletic. Small bust, nothing too feminine. Slightly taller than an average female, strong and sporty. Thin, ribs can be seen when she is wearing a swimsuit. Pale dry skin. Just like Bert, she isn't particularly healthy. She can get tired quite easily and she can sometimes walk, shrinking. Doesn't look too confident as she walks, yet don't you dare catcall her, it's a death sentence. Is a very good fighter. Has a large scar on her upper chest, right side, as well as a smaller scar on her left calf. Has two small tattoos, one she got as a memory from Afghanistan war (it's a bullet drawing), other is simply her favorite animal, lynx.

Mariya has made a ton of mistakes throughout her life. Her current life consists of solely fixing her old mistakes and trying to focus on present realities instead of dwelling on her regrets about her past. Tries to improve herself every day, yet fails often, which results in her apathy. Mariya is very fearless, confident, reliable, loyal to the ones that she chooses to love and trust. Sadly, she has given up on most things already, and really puts a lot of effort into simple functioning. She still tries to remain smiling, even though she would rather not. Overall, she is a dark and a mysterious lady who almost never talks about herself. Used to have anger issues, is still quite aggressive if provoked. Unlike her boyfriend Bert, she doesn't have any remaining faith in society, she never trusts people. Only ever focuses on her few close friends and relatives. Mariya is also smart - she reads a lot, and tries to learn something new every day. She hates her job since she has grown tired of violence, and yet it pays the bills very well. She has always dreamed of becoming an architect. Architecture enchants her and she is a huge geek, but she mostly specializes on Soviet architecture. She's a self-proclaimed expert, always goes to remote places of Russia just to see some creepy houses. Overall, a quiet and a completely lost person trying to make sense of what's around her.
