This is the third pic from the past, which I think has to much colour, I mean coloured it hard without shading or whatever, No one were able to shade at this age.

Super Mario Land 2: The Six Golden Coins were a good Mario game, but not awesome, the prequel were better, and you know it

Some of you may know that Mario were wearing a feather on top of his hat when he got his Fire Flower Power-up, you know why?
Since the game were in black and White, they've putted a feather so that we could know that he has the Fire Power ^^
So IF this game would include Colour, then I might think it would look like this.
