Description A binary fractal, with the sky and water regions equivalent after a half turn about the center point.

The central 1/2 x 1/2 is a scaled and rotated copy of the whole, and the largest 1/4 x 1/4 "waves" at the left and right margins are also scaled and rotated copies of the whole. It is a good example of a discrete similarity tiling with more than one singularity. In fact it has an infinite number, but a vanishingly low density, of singular points -- fractal dust.

Comparison with Katsushika Hokusai's classic woodblock print "Behind the Great Wave at Kanagawa " (mid-1820's) is interesting, as its fractal detail structure is often noted, and this image has a similar overall composition. Here's a nice vector mimic, "The Great Wave ".
